Senior Open best players and winners of the Estonian Championship medals were announced
While the opening day of the Estonian Senior Open in Pärnu Bay Golf Links was spent in decent heat and calm, the second day in White Beach Golf again brought heat and a 1.5-hour thunderstorm break. In general, however, the weather on the second day was also excellent.
In the men’s 50+ age group, the Swedish representative Jan Larsson (EGCC) won, with a total score of +10 (79, 75). Benno Maaring (Otepää Golf Club) won the second place and the Estonian championship, falling behind by three strokes. Third place and the Estonian silver medal went to Jaanus Turba (EGCC) in a very tense final fight, whose score was +15. The Estonian bronze medal belongs to Toomas Tamme (Otepää Golf Club) with the same result. This time Sami Seppänen and Enn Pääro lost with the same result. Results
Anneli Esken (EGCC), who was in this age group for the first time, won in the women’s younger age group. The result of the opening day was 81, but on the second day 74 strokes were added in Valgeranna! Second place to clubmate Anu Hanson, who scored 83 and 81 strokes. Raivo Velsberg took the title in the men’s 60+ age group. Velsberg secured the first victory and the Estonian championship gold for Reval Golf Club with numbers 78 and 77. The second place went to Juhan Kolk (85, 75), a representative of Otepää Golf Club, with the support of a powerful second day. The bronze belongs to EGCC representative Vello Kahro, whose rounds were 82 and 79. Results
In the age group of more experienced women, Ulvi Ingver (Niitvälja Golf Club) won her first title in this age group, winning with 92 and 91 strokes. Second place went to clubmate Anne Petter (95, 93) and third place to last year’s winner Arja Nordstörm (Master Golf Club), whose rounds were 95, 94. However, the bronze medal of the Estonian championship belongs to Küllike Varik from Niitvälja Golf Club, whose rounds were 96, 95. Results
In the men’s 65+ age group, Sulev Kodu (Niitvälja Golf Club) secured the victory and the Estonian championship with a very good second round. Rounds 90 and 81 gave four strokes to clubmate Allan Ellerand (89, 86). Third place and bronze belong to Rein Sarapik (Rae Golf Club), whose playing circles were 89 and 88. Results
Valgeranna is a happy place for Sulev Kodu, because at the Estonian seniors’ championship in 2010, Kodu won the men’s 55+ age group, which was the only championship title so far. Ulvi Ginger also got her first senior title in the 50+ age group in the same place and in the same year. In total, he now has six championship titles from the senior batting championship in the prize cabinet. For Raivo Velsberg, this was the seventh senior batting championship style. In addition, he has two senior match play championship titles in the prize cabinet. For Benno Maaring, it was the second championship in the senior class and he also has one track playing championship.
