Eight gold medals to Estonians
Today, the Estonian Junior Open, which lasted three days at Niitvälja Golf, ended, with a record 101 young players participating. The eighth place out of ten competition classes were taken by the Estonians. One hole in one was also done on the final day.
In the oldest competition class (up to 21 years old), there was tension to win the first place until the last hole. Although Mattias Varjun made a birdie on the last course, the younger brother Markus (both from Niitvälja Golf Club) did not get lost on the last hole and made a par, which meant 74 strokes, but the victory went to Markus Varjun (-3 in total) in front of his brother. Third place went to Aksel Seppel (EGCC), whose total result was +15. In addition to the top three places in the Junior Open, all of them also have the corresponding medals of the Estonian Youth Championship. Results
In the age group of the oldest girls, the victory went to Estonia, to Triin Marleen Ustal (Rae Golf Club) improved her result with two strokes every day (78, 76, 74), which meant a total of +12 and, in addition to winning the Junior Open, also the gold of the Estonian Championship. As an added bonus, it also meant for Ustal access to the WAGR (World Amateur Golf Rankings) table from the new week. Latvian Marija Luize Jucmane (Ozo Golf Club) had to accept a one-shot loss, and Anete Liis Adul (EGCC), who also holds a silver medal in the Estonian Youth Championship, was three strokes behind her southern neighbor. In the age group of young men up to 18 years old, Richard Teders (EGCC) three-day result was par (70, 74, 72). The next two places in Junior Open belonged to Lahden Golf players Jussi Kumpulainen (+2) and Kalle Verto (+7). Estonian Championship silver belongs to Nils Illimar Esko (+14, Rae Golf Club), who was seventh in the overall table, and bronze to Henry Mägi (+28, EGCC). Results
The age group of the girls up to 18 years of age was dictated by two Latvians. Marlena Gavare (Ozo Golf Club) won with +16 and Katrina Jana Gustafssone (Golfs Viesturi) was second with +28. The top three Estonians all come from the Estonian Golf & Country Club. Regina Luik outperformed Lill Kangust with two strokes to win gold. The bronze belongs to Laura Mölder. Results
